Cambridge is really three towns, Galt, Preston and Hespeler, sharing the Grand and Speed rivers, a 401 commute and a stock of stone and brick houses older than most of the Region.
The older streets of Galt and Preston have deep lots with mature trees, narrow side yards between neighbouring houses and detached garages off a rear lane. A tub usually rolls in from the lane without a crane, but the run from the panel can be long, and older 100 amp services sometimes need a load calculation from the electrician before a full size Jacuzzi goes in. The newer subdivisions off Hespeler Road, in north Galt and along the east side are the opposite: short electrical runs, tight yards and a gate that decides between dolly and crane.
Cambridge buyers commute east on the 401 to Milton, Mississauga and beyond, and the tub is the reason to get off the highway and go home. Families in the newer areas choose the J-385 or J-485 for a full house; couples in a Galt semi pick the J-325 or J-335. River valley lots along the Grand in Galt and the Speed in Hespeler often slope, and a swim spa sunk partway into a terraced yard is a popular project there, subject to floodplain rules you confirm with the city and the conservation authority.
